I miss traveling. I miss picking up my camera and taking pictures of people.
I used to travel a lot during my early years in Germany. Of course I still had money then.
I'm tired of sightseeing, tired of old historic buildings, tired of going to places where the tourists are around.
If I were to travel somewhere soon, I want to engage with the people of that society. Not the tourist guides or the souvenir sellers, but with old people, teenagers, children - normal people. Talk to them, drink a cup of tea with them, play with them. I will do anything as long as I can engage with them, and understand them better. We don't need to know the language in order to communicate with the people. Be nice, smile, and people will treat you well too.
We travel not only to know about that particular city or country, but to learn about its society. But how can we open our eyes if we just aim for the tourist attractions?
A point to ponder.
